UUFSD Social Justice Action Program
Casas de Luz is a social justice action program run out of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Dieguito, located in Solana Beach, CA. The UUFSD is a 501(c)(3) organization and Unitarian Universalist Fellowship that welcomes people of all faith to join together to create a space of love, compassion, and community.
The UUFSD values community collaboration and Casas de Luz is just one of their social action programs with the goal to work towards more social justice and compassion in our local, national, and international communities.
We began as a program with UUFSD in 2005 when Kathy Faller presented the idea to the fellowship community. It was originally a program designed for members to participate it, but has since expanded to many different groups and communities. We are still an affiliate of UUFSD.
Across the different projects of Casas de Luz, UUFSD has continued their support for our vision and movement towards increased community collaboration. We would not be where we are without the help and support of UUFSD.
House to Home Project
Heaven on Earth NOW is a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed, house, teach, and honor individuals all over the world. As part of their housing initiative, Heaven on Earth NOW joined us in 2018 to begin a “House to Home” project for families receiving a home.
Heaven on Earth NOW works with numerous different organizations across the country to provide nourishing food, education on clean water and nutrition and basic home essentials to provide families with a new start.
With their support, we are able to create personalized house to home packages for all of our families receiving a home. A typical package includes basic cleaning supplies, kitchen and dining essentials, and individual gifts for each member of the family.
Heaven on Earth NOW supports our mission to not only build a house for families, but provide them with a home in which they can grow and prosper. We are able to fill cupboards and drawers with brand new essential items, something so special for families.
